Mears Group, Inc. welcomes Philip D. Simon, P.E. as Principal Consulting Engineer

We are pleased to announce that Mr. Philip D. Simon, P.E. has joined Mears Group, Inc. as Principal Consulting Engineer. Phil will be based in the Seattle, Washington area and will be working on Special Projects involving the Electric and Oil and Gas markets domestically and internationally.

Phil brings over 39 years of experience covering all aspects of cathodic protection design, installation, data acquisition and project management for underground pipelines, tanks, marine structures, power generating stations and steel reinforced concrete structures. Prior to joining Mears, Phil was the Principal Engineer for DNV Columbus. From 1972 through 1989, Phil worked for Norton Corrosion Engineers, serving in a variety of managerial positions within the company prior to assuming the role of President in 1986.

Specific program activities that Phil has executed include CP system design and installation on docks throughout Alaska, Asia and South America; remote pipeline survey in Borneo, and power plant corrosion control systems throughout the United States and several foreign countries. Phil has authored several publications and he co-authored the manual, “Corrosion Detection for Steel Reinforced Concrete Bridge Structures,” for the FHWA demonstration Project No. 84 for training state highway engineers in rapid data acquisition and analysis of bridge condition.

Phil earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Washington, Seattle. He is registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of California, as well as a Washington State Electrical Administrator.

Phil has established himself as one of the leading experts in cathodic protection in the country and has extensive experience in project management.
