Mears Presents Donated Scholarship Funds to University of Akron Students

As part of the special events at the 2011 NACExpo, scholarship recipients were presented with their awards during the student ceremony in Houston. This event, held simultaneously during the Expo recognized donors and recipients.
The University of Akron (UAkron), with the nation’s only B.S. of Corrosion Engineering degree, awarded UAkron student, Jacob Sines, the Mears Group-NACE Foundation Scholarship. Presenting the award was UAkron professor Joe Payer, NACE International vice president and Mears Group, Integrity Solutions vice-president, Kevin Garrity and NACE Foundation president, Neil Thompson.
Mears presented the donated scholarship funds to UAkron during its AC Mitigation seminar in September of 2010. A $15,000 Mears’ scholarship donation will be disbursed each year over the next 5 years and designated for the College of Engineering in support of UAkron’s Corrosion and Reliability Engineering program.
