JEA St. John's River Crossing - Jacksonville, Florida

Mears installed an 8-inch conduit for 2,226-feet under the St. John's River using its 140,000 lb. rig. This steel conduit pipeline was an emergency replacement to house an underwater high voltage line that was cut by a sheet piling contractor working along the St. John's River in downtown Jacksonville, Florida.

UTEC was called in as the specialty contractor for high voltage lines. Together with J.R. Giese Operations, who designed the project, and Mears Group, who installed the 8-inch steel pipeline, this project was turn-key from start to finish. With all the parties involved, the efficiency with planning, design and installation made this project very successful.

UTEC installed the 64 kV line inside the 8-inch conduit pipeline and performed the splices back into the existing line.
